"Declaring independence or not?"
This project integrates the social studies curriculum with online research, Google Drive, Comic Life, iPhoto, and iMovie. Students will work in pairs. One student will research a patriot and the partner will research a loyalist. The pair will communicate with each other using Google Drive to create a six line debate where each historical figure is making statements similar to what they would have said over 230 years ago. The debate will then be displayed using Comic Life where pictures of the historical figures will have a six-framed debate, three frames from each person. Students then take screen shots of the six frames. These images will be dragged into an iPhoto album. These six frames will be used in iMovie. Students will then narrate their six-framed debate. Students will also create a title frame and musical introduction. Students will then compress their iMovie into a Quicktime movie file.

Virtual Vacations
Students researched a country of their choice using Culturegrams.com. The students then wrote a postcard to someone telling them about their vacation using facts they learned about the country. The postcard was made using powerpoint, where they typed the text and imported a picture that represents their vacation. Students then narrated their postcard and converted their narrated postcard into a quicktime movie. These individual quicktime movie files were then combined into an iMovie class project.

Diamante
Students created a diamante with the help of the “readwritethink” website. Students then used a digital camera to take pictures of a scene reflected in their poem. Students usedWord to edit and type out the diamante. Students used Comic Life to display their diamante and the pictures they took. Students used search engines to find additional pictures if needed. This Comic Life Diamante project was converted into a jpeg that was inserted into aPowerpoint slide. Students then narrated and turned their powerpoint slide into a Quicktime movie.
