Mo Willems Arasma Project
Books written by Mo Willems were introduced to the kindergarteners in Media class. After the students had gained a background of experience with Mo Willems’s books they were asked questions:
1. What is your favorite Mo Willems’s book and why?
2. What is your favorite Mo Willems’s character and why?
3. Finish the sentence, “Don’t let the pigeon …”
4. What would you like to do with your best friend?
Students were then video taped with a green screen background as they answered their question.
The project then used an app called Aurasma, where students can go home and trigger or activate their video using a specific image.
Aurasma is a free app for Android mobile devices. Aurasma’s image recognition technology uses a smartphone’s or tablet’s camera to recognize images (called “Triggers”) and then allow the recognized image to turn into animations, videos, etc (called “Auras”).
Once you have downloaded “Aurasma” to your mobile device you will need to follow “mrparlette”. You can then use the images sent home or the images on this wiki labeled as the “Triggers”. These images should trigger the recorded videos from the students in the class. The recorded videos are labeled “Auras”.

"WHY I LIKE WINTER"
Students listen to the story “The First Day of Winter.” Students discuss dressing appropriately for the cold winter weather. Using Pixie, students will add stickers of winter clothing to a picture of themselves. Students will then record their voice to narrate something they like about winter.

"PINKALICIOUS"
Students listen to the story “Pinkalicious.” Students choose a color they would like to turn into if they eat too many food items of a certain color. Using Pixie, students draw of picture of themselves as the color they choose. Students add food items of the same color by drawing their own favorite foods or by selecting/modifying existing food stamps from the Pixie Stamp Library. The Pixie project is then narrated and exported to an iMovie class project.
